IBiSA is responsible for organizing sporting events, school sports tournaments, summer camps as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle among children. Our programs and activities are intended for children ages 4 to 17 years.
The goal: Create opportunities to enable children to engage in a wide variety of sports competitively. School sport provides the participants the opportunity to gain knowledge in different sports and also develop their motor, social and technical skills.
School sport program consist of 3 types of competitions:
1.National (Among local schools)
2.Regional (Dutch Caribbean)
3.International
Sport and physical activities improve our children’s physical and mental wellbeing, and aid in the development of important skills such as teamwork and leadership. A positive experience in sport and physical activity at a young age can stimulate a lifetime habit of participation, and is central in meeting the government’s ambitions pursuing a world class education system.
Physical literacy (building physical competency alongside confidence, enjoyment, knowledge and understanding) and high quality, modern physical education (PE) classes which engage boys and girls of different backgrounds and abilities, should be a fundamental part of every child’s school experience.
Ensuring that young people get access to the right amount of daily activities can have broader benefits for pupils and schools, by improving behavior as well as enhancing learning and academic achievements. Sport has also been identified by the Department for Education as one of the five foundations for building character, helping young people develop resilience, determination and self-belief, and instilling values and virtues such as friendship and fair play. It (sport) can help children and young people to connect with their peers, tackling loneliness and social isolation and building stronger communities.
